 LESSON - 6
PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE

Introduction:
The past continuous tense is used to describe actions that happened
in a specific time in the past.
The sentence is expressed with the words ‘was’ or ‘were’ with ‘ing’ form.
If  a sentence is in a singular form ‘was’ and ‘ing’ are used.
Example: The dog was barking. The girl was running.
If a sentence is in plural form ‘were’ and ‘ing’ are used.
Example: They were playing cricket. Children were eating snacks.
Past continuous tense is also combined with past simple tense.
An example of this combination is:
Phone was ringing when I opened the door.
The thief was trying to escape when the police arrived.

Use  'was'  and  ‘ing’ for  _ ‘he’, ‘she’, ‘it’ or single names.
