PREPOSITION - ABOUT 




About is used  on the subject of concerning:
  • She told me about your problem.
  • Teacher told about the planets.
  • Children are talking about holidays.

About  is used to tell an approximate number:
  • About 40 people were rescued from the boat mishap.
  • About 1000 people attended the marriage.
  • He wrote about 200 stories in English.

‘About’ is used to tell an approximate time:
  •  They came at midnight at about 1 ‘o’clock.
  •   I got the news at about 5 in the morning.
  •   We reached the railway station at about 3.30.

About is used when some action is stopped suddenly:
  • They were about to go out. They stopped because of rain.
  •  He saved her when she was about to slip and fall under the train.
  •  Sneha said to Prema, “ I was about to say the same thing.” 



ABOUT
Don't tell bad about any one.
It started raining at about 10.
About 50 people died in the accident
The police caught him when he was about to escape.
The bus driver applied a break when the bus was
about to fall in the lake.

लगभग दस कप चाय तैयार करें।

వాళ్ళు ఎప్పుడు ఇక్కడకు వస్తున్నారు?
वे यहाँ कब आ रहे हैं?

వాళ్ళు సుమారు 3 గంటలకు వస్తున్నారు.
वे लगभग 3 बजे आ रहे हैं।

సమావేశం ఎప్పుడు ప్రారంభమైంది?
बैठक कब शुरू हुई?
The meeting started at about 11.
సమావేశం సుమారు 11 గంటలకు ప్రారంభమైంది.
बैठक लगभग 11 बजे शुरू हुई।

మీరిద్దరూ ఏ సమయంలో డ్రైవింగ్ చేస్తున్నారు?
आप दोनों किस समय गाड़ी चला रहे थे?
We were driving at about 6.
మేము సుమారు6 గంటలకు డ్రైవింగ్ చేస్తున్నాము
हम लगभग 6 बजे गाड़ी चला रहे थे

'About' is used if an action which is going to happen stops suddenly.
Will you go to church today?
क्या आप आज चर्च जायेंगे?
మీరు ఈ రోజు చర్చికి వెళ్తారా?
Is it Sunday? I forgot, I am about to go to office.
आज रविवार है क्यामैं भूल गयामैं ऑफिस जाने वाला हूं।
ఈ రోజు ఆదివారమా ? నేను మర్చిపోయి ఆఫీసుకు వెళ్ళబోతున్నాను.
Is she alive?
क्या वह जीवित है?
ఆమె బతికే ఉందా?
Some one saved her when she was about to  drown.
जब वह डूबने वाला था तो किसी ने उसे बचा लिया।
ఆమె మునిగిపోతుంటే  ఎవరో ఆమెను రక్షించారు.

किसने तुमसे कहा था कि वहां मत जाओ?
అక్కడికి వెళ్ళద్దని ఎవరు చెప్పారు?

ज्योति ने बताया जब मैं जाने वाला था

वे बाहर जाने के लिए दरवाजा बंद करने वाले थे।
వారు బయటకు వెళ్ళడానికి తలుపు వేయబోతున్నారు,



Conversation:        (Teacher and Parent)

Parent:      Good morning madam.

Teacher:   Good morning.  Please tell me, what can I do for you?     

Parent:      Next week we are going to Kerala to see my mother.  My sister called me and told about                                her. She is not well, I have to go and see her. I want to take my daughter
                  Swetha with me.  I am informing you because you are her class teacher.

Teacher:    What about your son Suresh?

Parent:        I am worried about his studies. So, I am leaving him in my brother’s  house
                   because he should attend the school regularly without missing any class.
                   His class teacher told me about his studies. His exam results are not up to the mark.
                   
Teacher:      How many days will you stay there?

Parent:         About 10 days.

Teacher:      His class teacher is on leave. She may not come for about a week. I will
                     Inform her about this. You can take her and go. I will  take care of everything.
                     Don’t worry.

Parent:        O.k. Thank you.
