Introduction:

‘For’is used to indicate the use of something, a reason or purpose.

 Used to mean ‘because of’ used to indicate time or duration.

Used to indicate the use of something.

v  This play ground is for playing cricket.

v  She brought a gift for you.

v  These books are for children.

v  He built a house for his parents

Used to mean because of:

    v   I will go to Kashmir to give company for my friend.

          v  We feel sorry for her health.

          v  They didn’t buy the house for lack of money.

          v  She takes tonic for weakness.

Used to indicate time or duration:

v  Doctor advised me not to travel for one year.

v  We will stay in Gujarat for a week.

v  She helped him for many years.
v It rained for two hours.

FOR

This gift is for you.

It rained for  an hour.

This water is for drinking.

Let us  wait for them.

Fruits are good for health.

These books are for children.

1.	‘For’  का अर्थ  'के लिए’  है          ‘For’ అంటే  'కోసం' For a person or group of people
	Does he wait for you? क्या वह आप के लिए इंतजार करता है? అతను మీ కోసం వేచి ఉంటాడా?	He waits for me. वह मेरा मेरे लिए इंतजार करता है। అతను నా కోసం వేచి ఉంటాడు.
	Will anyone wait for you? क्या कोई आप के लिए इंतजार करेगा? మీ కోసం ఎవరైనా వేచి ఉంటారా?	Vijay will wait for me. विजय मेरे लिए इंतजार करेगा। విజయ్ నా కోసం వేచి ఉంటాడు.

	Why does she come here? वह यहाँ क्यों आती है? ఆమె ఎందుకు ఇక్కడకు వస్తుంది?	She comes here for newspaper. वह अखबार के लिए यहां आती है। ఆమె వార్తాపత్రిక కోసం ఇక్కడకు వస్తుంది.
	Why will she come ? वह क्यों आएगी? ఆమె ఎందుకు వస్తుంది?	She will come for money. वह पैसे के लिए आएगी। ఆమె డబ్బు కోసం వస్తుంది
	Why is he going to market? वह बाजार क्यों जा रहा है? అతను ఎందుకు మార్కెట్‌కు వెళ్తున్నాడు?	He is going for fruits and vegetables. वह फल और सब्जियों के लिए जा रहा है। అతను పండ్లు మరియు కూరగాయల కోసం వెళ్తున్నాడు.
	Why did you give her money? आपने उसे पैसे क्यों दिए? మీరు ఆమెకు ఎందుకు డబ్బు ఇచ్చారు?	I gave her for medicines. मैंने उसे दवा के लिए पैसा दी మందుల కోసం ఇచ్చాను.

	When do you go for a walk? आप टहलने कब जाते हैं? మీరు వాకింగ్  ఎప్పుడు వెళతారు?	In the morning I go for a walk. सुबह मैं टहलने जाता हूँ। ఉదయం వాకింగ్ కోసం వెళ్తాను.
	Will you come for lunch? क्या आप लंच के लिए आएंगे? మీరు మధ్యాహ్నం భోజనానికి వస్తారా?	No, I will come for dinner. नहीं, मैं रात के खाने के लिए आऊँगा। లేదు, నేను రాత్రి భోజనానికి వస్తాను
	Why is Sarala going to America? सरला अमेरिका क्यों जा रही है? సరళ అమెరికా ఎందుకు వెళుతోంది ?	She is going for higher studies. वह उच्च अध्ययन के लिए जा रही है। ఆమె ఉన్నత చదువులకు వెళుతోంది.
	Why did he go to Mumbai ? वह मुंबई क्यों गए? అతను ముంబైకి ఎందుకు వెళ్ళాడు?	He went to Mumbai for a seminar. वह एक सेमिनार के लिए मुंबई गए।  సెమినార్ కోసం ముంబై వెళ్ళాడు.
	Where were they going ? वे कहां जा रहे थे?  వాళ్ళప్పుడు  ఎక్కడికి వెళ్తున్నారు?	They were going for a walk. वे टहलने जा रहे थे। వాళ్ళప్పుడు వాకింగ్ కోసం వెళుతున్నారు.
4.	Some more examples on Purspose or Cause: (Prayer, Price, Destination, Exam, Rent)
	When do you gather for prayer? आप प्रार्थना के लिए कब एकत्रित होते हैं? ప్రార్థన కోసం మీరు ఎప్పుడు కలుసుకుంటారు?	In the evening we gather for prayer. शाम को हम प्रार्थना के लिए इकट्ठा होते हैं। సాయంత్రం మేము ప్రార్థన కోసం కలుసుకుంటాము.
	Will he give this portion for rent? क्या वह इस हिस्से को किराए पर देगा? అతను ఈ భాగాన్ని అద్దెకు ఇస్తాడా?	He will not give this portion for rent. वह इस हिस्से को किराए पर नहीं देगा। అతను ఈ భాగాన్ని అద్దెకు ఇవ్వడు.
	Where are they going ? वे कहाँ जा रहे हैं ? వాళ్ళు ఎక్కడికి వెళ్తున్నారు ?	They are leaving for Australia. वे ऑस्ट्रेलिया के लिए रवाना हो रहे हैं। వారు ఆస్ట్రేలియాకు బయలుదేరుతున్నారు.
	For how much did you buy this shirt? आपने यह शर्ट कितने में खरिदे ? మీరు ఈ చొక్కా ఎంతకు కొన్నారు?	I bought it for 10 dollars. मैंने इसे 10 डॉलर में खरीदा था। నేను 10 డాలర్లకు కొన్నాను.
	What were they doing last night? कल रात वे क्या कर रहे थे? నిన్న రాత్రి వారు ఏమి చేస్తున్నారు?	They were preparing for exam. वे परीक्षा की तैयारी कर रहे थे। వారు పరీక్షకు సిద్ధమవుతున్నారు.
5.	To mention the period of time:
	How long does she pray? वह कब तक प्रार्थना करती  है? ఆమె ఎంతసేపు ప్రార్థిస్తుంది?	She prays for an hour. वह एक घंटे तक प्रार्थना करती है। ఆమె ఒక గంటసేపు ప్రార్థిస్తుంది.
	Will he wait for you ? क्या वह आपके लिए इंतजार करेगा? అతను మీ కోసం వేచి ఉంటాడా?	He will wait only for 15 minutes. वह केवल 15 मिनट तक इंतजार करेगा। అతను 15 నిమిషాలు మాత్రమే వేచి ఉంటాడు.
	How many days are you staying in Bangalore? आप बैंगलोर में कितने दिन रह रहे हैं? మీరు బెంగుళూరులో ఎన్ని రోజులు ఉంటున్నారు?	I am staying for three days. तीन दिन रह रहा हूं। నేను మూడు రోజులు ఉంటున్నాను.
	How many years did you work in that office? उस कार्यालय में आपने कितने साल काम किया? ఆ ఆఫీస్ లో మీరు ఎన్ని సంవత్సరాలు పనిచేశారు?	I worked for two years. मैंने दो साल तक काम किया। నేను రెండేళ్లు పనిచేశాను
	Where were you waiting? कहाँ इंतज़ार कर रहे थे?  మీరు ఎక్కడ వేచి ఉన్నారు?	I was waiting in the library for half an hour. मैं आधे घंटे तक लाइब्रेरी में इंतजार कर रहा था। నేను లైబ్రరీలో అరగంట సేపు వేచి ఉన్నాను.

Conversation:

Suresh: You look so busy in the morning. Where are you going?

Mahesh: I am going for a walk. Where are you going?

Suresh: I am going to market for provisions and vegetables.

Mahesh: How is your mother? Did Ramesh go to the US for higher studies?

Suresh: My mother is ok. I am taking her to hospital for regular checkups.

             Ramesh didn’t go to the US, he went to Pune for software training.

             The training  is for 6 months. He will go to the US after coming from Pune.

             How are your parents?

Mahesh:  Both are well. Often they ask about you. Why don’t you come and meet

                 them when you are free. Today night  you  come for dinner.

                 I will wait for you to have dinner with you.

Suresh:    OK I will try to come. Thank you.  See you in the evening.
