 Preposition - ON

1. 'On' is used  for flat surfaces both big and small.

•   Girls and boys are playing cricket on the ground.
•   Phone is on the table.
•   I saw him on the road.

2. 'On' is used in time expressions:        

• I met him on New Year Day.
• They are coming on 10th.
• They go to church on Sundays

3.‘On’ is used to indicate Place and Direction. Like – on the right, on the first floor, 
     on the terrace, etc.

•  He lives on the second floor.
• They slept on the terrace.
• Stand on the right side of the building.

4. ‘On’ is used before the words like ‘strike’, ‘duty’, ‘phone’,  ‘time’, ‘way’ etc.

•  All the nurses and doctors are on strike.
•  He went to Kerala on duty.
• We came for meeting on time.
• They are on the way to office.
• He is talking on phone.

1.		‘On’ is used to tell about the position above something.
		Where do you keep your phone? आप आपका फोन कहां रखते हैं? మీరు మీ ఫోన్‌ను ఎక్కడ పెడ్తారు`?		Usually I keep on the table. आमतौर पर मैं टेबल पर रखता हूं। సాధారణంగా నేను టేబుల్ మీద పెడ్తాను.
		Where will you keep the keys ? तुम चाबी कहाँ रखोगे ? మీరు తాళాలు ఎక్కడ పెడ్తారు?		I will keep it on the window. मैं इसे खिड़की पर रखूंगा। నేను కిటికీ పైన  పెడ్తాను.
		Where are you keeping the books?  आप किताबें कहां रख रहे हैं? మీరు పుస్తకాలను ఎక్కడ పెడుతున్నారు ?		I am keeping them on table. मैं टेबल पर रख रहा हूं। నేను వాటిని టేబుల్ మీద పెడుతున్నాను.
		Where did he write his phone number? उसने उसका फ़ोन नंबर कहाँ लिखा था? అతను తన ఫోన్ నంబర్ ఎక్కడ రాశాడు?		He wrote on the calendar. उसने कैलेंडर पर लिखा। కేలండర్ మీద వ్రాసాడు.
		Where was the teacher drawing ? शिक्षक ड्राइंग कहाँ कर रही थी ? టీచర్ డ్రాయింగ్  ఎక్కడ గీస్తువున్నింది ?		The teacher was drawing on the board. शिक्षक बोर्ड पर ड्राइंग कर रही थी । టీచర్ డ్రాయింగ్ బోర్డు మీద గీస్తువున్నింది.
2.		‘On’ is used to mention  a day or a date.
		When does she go to church? वह चर्च को कब जाती है? ఆమె చర్చికి ఎప్పుడు వెళుతుంది?		She goes on Sundays. वह रविवार को जाती है। ఆమె ఆదివారాలు వెళుతుంది.
		When will she go to Mumbai ? वह मुंबई कब जाएगी? ఆమె ముంబై ఎప్పుడు వెళ్తుంది?		She will go on Friday. वह शुक्रवार को जाएगी। ఆమె శుక్రవారం వెళ్తుంది.
		When are you going to office? आप ऑफिस कब जा रहे हैं? మీరు ఆఫీస్ కి ఎప్పుడు వెళుతున్నారు?		I am going on 10th. मैं 10 तारिक जा रहा हूं। నేను 10 వ తేదీన వెళ్తున్నాను
		When did you meet Raghu ? आप रघु से कब मिले? మీరు రఘును ఎప్పుడు కలిశారు?		I met him on Christmas day. मैं उनसे क्रिसमस के दिन मिला था। . నేను క్రిస్మస్ రోజున కలిశాను
		Where were you going on Republic day? आप गणतंत्र दिवस पर कहाँ जा रहे थे? రిపబ్లిక్ రోజున  మీరు ఎక్కడికి వెళ్తూ వుండినారు?		On that  day we were going to parade ground. उस दिन हम परेड ग्राउंड जा रहे थे।  ఆ రోజున మేము పరేడ్ గ్రౌండ్‌కు వెళ్తూ వుండినాము.

		What do you do in office? आप ऑफिस में क्या करते हैं? మీరు ఆఫీస్లో ఏమి చేస్తారు?	I work on the computer. मैं कंप्यूटर पर काम करता हूं। నేను కంప్యూటర్‌ మీద పనిచేస్తాను.
		What will she do at home ? वह घर पर क्या करेगी? ఆమె ఇంట్లో ఏమి చేస్తుంది?	She will work on the computer. वह कंप्यूटर पर काम करेगा। ఆమె కంప్యూటర్‌ పై  పని చేస్తుంది.
		What are they doing ? वे क्या कर रहे हैं ? వారు ఏమి చేస్తున్నారు ?	They are working on the computer. वे कंप्यूटर पर काम कर रहे हैं। వారు కంప్యూటర్‌ పై  పనిచేస్తున్నారు.
		What did you do all the day? आप पूरे दिन क्या किया? మీరు రోజంతా ఏమి చేసారు?	I worked on the computer. मैंने कंप्यूटर पर काम किया। నేను కంప్యూటర్ మీద పని చేశాను
		What were you doing all the day ? आप पूरे दिन क्या कर रहे थे? మీరు రోజంతా ఏమి చేస్తూవుంటిరి ?	I was working on the computer. मैं कंप्यूटर पर काम कर रहा था। నేను కంప్యూటర్‌ పై  పని చేస్తువుంటిని.
4.		On the right,  On the second floor, On television, On the terrace etc.
		Where  does David live? डेविड कहाँ रहता है? డేవిడ్ ఎక్కడ నివసిస్తున్నాడు?	David lives on the second floor. डेविड दूसरी मंजिल पर रहता है। డేవిడ్ రెండవ అంతస్తులో నివసిస్తున్నాడు.
		Where will you wait ? आप कहाँ रुकेंगे? మీరు ఎక్కడ వేచి ఉంటారు?	I will wait on the right side of your office. मैं आपके कार्यालय के दाईं ओर प्रतीक्षा करूंगा। నేను మీ ఆఫీస్ కుడి వైపున వేచి ఉంటాను.
		Where are you waiting? आप कहाँ इंतज़ार कर रहे हैं? మీరు ఎక్కడ వేచి ఉన్నారు?	I am waiting on James Street. मैं जेम्स स्ट्रीट पर इंतजार कर रहा हूं। నేను జేమ్స్ స్ట్రీట్‌లో వేచి ఉన్నాను.
		Where did you see him ? तुमने उसे कहां देखा? మీరు అతన్ని ఎక్కడ చూశారు?	I saw him on television. मैंने उसे टेलीविजन पर देखा। నేను అతనిని టెలివిజన్‌లో చూశాను.
		Where were they sleeping? वे कहाँ सो रहे थे? మీరు ఎక్కడ నిద్రపోతూవుండినారు?	They were sleeping on the terrace. वे छत पर सो रहे थे ఇంటిపైన నిద్రపోతూవుండినాము
5.		On strike, on duty, on phone, on time, on the way
		Why do doctors don’t work ? डॉक्टरों काम क्यों नहीं करते हैं? డాక్టర్స్  ఎందుకు పని చేయరు?	Doctors don’t work. They are on strike. डॉक्टरों काम नहीं करते हैं वे हड़ताल पर हैं। డాక్టర్స్  పని చేయరు. వాళ్ళు సమ్మెలో ఉన్నారు.
		Why will she go to Chennai? वह चेन्नई क्यों जाएगी? ఆమె చెన్నై ఎందుకు వెళ్తుంది?	She will go to Chennai on duty. वह ड्यूटी पर चेन्नई जाएगी। ఆమె డ్యూటీ మీద చెన్నై వెళ్తుంది
		What is he  doing ? वह क्या कर रहा है ? అతనేమి చేస్తున్నాడు.	He is talking on phone. वह फोन पर बात कर रहा है। ఫోన్‌లో మాట్లాడుతున్నాడు.
		When did you come to attend meeting? आप मीटिंग कब आए? మీటింగ్ కి మీరు ఎప్పుడు వచ్చారు?	I came on time before it started. మీటింగ్ స్టార్ట్  అయ్యేముందు  టైం కి వచ్చాను. मैं शुरू होने से पहले समय पर आया था।
		What were you doing when I called? मेरे बुलाने पर आप क्या कर रहे थे?     నేను పిలిచినప్పుడు మీరు ఏమి చేస్తున్నారు?	I was walking, on the way to your house.  तुम्हारे घर के रास्ते पर मैं चल रहा था,। నేనప్పుడు నడుస్తున్నాను, మీ ఇంటికి వచ్చే దారిలో.

  

   Conversation:    [Two sisters]

     Jenni:    Jinia, where is my phone ?  I forgot somewhere. 

     Jinia:     You are absent minded. See on the TV table. You talked on phone 
                   for a long time and  put it on  the table. 

    Jenni:     No, it is not here.

    Jinia:       See properly it is on the left side of the TV. Yesterday also you put it on the         

                    computer table and were searching in this room. 

    Jenni:      Yes, it is here, thank you. You said 'computer' and I remember one thing. 

                    On Sunday I have computer special class. I should go on time. 

    Jinia:      Where is your college? 

    Jenni:      It is on the third floor of  Samsung building. You came to my college on

                    New Year  Day. Don’t you remember?

                

    Jinia:      I came, but I forgot. Your phone is ringing, first you attend the call.
